THE NATIONLIGHT TEAM

Marc Erlbaum

Marc Erlbaum graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1992 from the University of Michigan with a degree in English and Creative Writing. After graduation, he entered the family business, a national bridal chain named David’s Bridal, and served in senior level management before the public company was sold to the May Corporation. Erlbaum then founded Prospect Hill Real Estate, an owner and manager of residential realty in Philadelphia.

Returning to his passion for writing, Erlbaum went on to do graduate work in Comparative Literature at The University of Pennsylvania and then Creative Writing at Temple University where he was introduced to screenwriting. Erlbaum directed and co-produced his first short film, “Statue,” in 2005. The following year, he completed his first feature film, “Head Space,” a micro-budget mockumentary which Erlbaum wrote and directed and which premiered at The Philadelphia Film Festival.

Erlbaum’s script “Buddy Goldstein Live” was featured in the Emerging Narratives division of the IFP Market in 2006. The screenplay was optioned by LA production company Neo, Art and Logic later that year, and subsequently produced in the fall of 2007 under the new title “Buddy Gilbert Comes Alive” with Erlbaum directing and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) starring

alongside actor/musician Gavin Bellour. The film is currently in post production.

Subsequent to founding Nationlight in early 2009, Erlbaum wrote and directed the company’s first feature film, Café, in the spring of that year. The ensemble drama features a spectacular cast led by Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy, and Alexa Vega, and is currently in post-production.

In addition to his professional work, Erlbaum is founder of The Jewish Relief Agency, the largest provider of food assistance to Jewish poor in the Greater Philadelphia region. JRA’s distributions bring together over 600 volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to assemble and deliver food packages to over 2,500 Jewish families in need every month. In addition to assisting less fortunate members of the community, JRA has created a community of volunteerism in which over 7,000 people from throughout the spectrum of Jewish observance have joined together in a common purpose.
